Christmas Open House - Saturday, December 6

We'd love to have your join us on Saturday, December 6, for our Christmas Open House. Stop by sometime between 10 am - 5 pm, have some holiday snacks and register to win some awesome prizes. We will also have demos throughout the day. The demo schedule will be posted on Instagram and Facebook earlier in the week.

Diamond Table Runner Class - Friday, December 5

We have a fun class scheduled for Friday, December 5, 10 am - 4 am, as Pat Arnott teaches the "CharmGello Diamond Table Runner" - a beautiful table runner that uses charm squares. The pattern is considered beginner friendly. Fabric requirements will be emailed or can be picked up at the store. The table runner top should be completed that day.

What's Happening with Craft Supplies

As I've mentioned in previous emails, we've been trying to figure out what the next step is with our craft supplies. While we have kept quite a few items for both adults and children, those items are still not moving very well. These are great Christmas gift items; however we just wanted to let you know that most likely more of these items will be phased out in the new year.

We are accepting donations for Christy's Stocking Christmas Gift Drive again this year. A lot of items that they are looking for are craft-related - we have many of these items here at the store. The toys/crafts are for kids who will be at the UK Children's Hospital over the Christmas holiday. Thank you for your help!

Finally, I want to express how thankful I am for each of you - your friendship and support over the three plus years that we've been in business has been incredible. May you and yours have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Last Week of the All Kentucky and Tennessee Shop Hop

I can't believe that the Shop Hop is almost over. We've had the best time and enjoyed meeting hundreds of new people! There are still a few days to do your "shop hopping" if you're interested. You can get stamps through Sunday, August 31. We hope to see you "hopping" soon!

Big Celebration this Saturday

We are celebrating our 3rd Anniversary this coming Saturday, August 30, 10 am - 5 pm. We will have games, specials throughout the day, treats, and more! You can stay up to date with all the details on our Event Page. We hope that you'll join us for the celebration.

Store Closed for a Week and Change of Hours

We are taking a little vacation time! The store will be closed Tuesday, September 2 - Saturday, September 6. We will re-open on Tuesday, September 9. Also, we will close at 4 pm on the 9th.

Call for Makers

We are looking for quilt sample makers. If you have experience piecing quilts and are available to make a quilt top or two with a quick turn-around, we are interested. The pattern and fabric will be provided. Please reply to this email with a couple of pictures of quilts that you have made. Compensation will be in the form of a Bluegrass Stitches & Crafts gift card. If you aren't chosen this time, don't worry! We'll be asking again.

Longarm Price Increase at Beginning of the Year

We have been providing longarm services for over 6 years! Wow - time really flies! Our prices have stayed the same during that time while prices for thread and maintaining my machine have gone up. As such, we will be increasing our longarming prices in 2026. Edge-to-edge designs will be begin at $.02 per square inch with a minimum of $50. Thread is still included in the price. The new pricing will take effect with items that are received in 2026.

August 7, 2025 - New Fabric ~ Upcoming Class - Big Celebration - More!

New Fabric

We have received a bunch of new Riley Blake fabrics and they're at a great price - $9 per yard. (A few are Lori Holt, too!) Quantities are limited - come check them out before they're gone!

3-Yard Bundles

We have a great selection of 3 yard bundles right now - and several of the Fabric Cafe 3-yard Quilt books.

Also - the NEWEST Fabric Cafe 3-yard book is being released soon and you can pre-order the Panel Perfect 3-Yard Quilts book now! It is scheduled to arrive early September.

Celebration

We have been open for 3 years as of the end of July!! Between the shop hop and illness, I haven't been able to plan anything- yet! The plan is to have a big celebration at the end of the month - watch for details.

Sunday Hours

We are open on Sundays, 1-4 pm, through the end of August.

All Kentucky & Tennessee Shop Hop

The All Kentucky & Tennessee Shop Hop continues through the end of August. We have had the honor of welcoming 500+ hoppers from across the United States since July 1. We are so thankful for you during this time!

There's still time to participate in the shop hop if you're interested. We have magazines available online and in-store. It's fun to visit the different shops and learn new things!

Weekly Deals

How does a deal a week sound? For the next couple of months, we're going to try a new deal every week. The deals run Tuesday - Sunday and are valid in-store only.

- Aug 5 - Aug 10 - Save 10% on scissors and rotary cutters
- Aug 12 - Aug 17 - Save 10% on precuts (includes manufacturer pre-cuts, fat quarters, yard cuts, 3-yard bundles, and 3 yard quilt backs. Excludes panels)

Clearance

As I've mentioned previously, we are in the process of revamping part of the store. As a result, we have a bunch of items on clearance (crafts, gifts, some fabric, etc). All of the clearance items are 40% off. It's a great time to stock up on gifts and supplies!

We have extended the awesome Gift Card deal through the end of July. Purchase a $200 gift card by the end of July and every month through May 2026, you will receive your choice of (1) 3 fat quarters or (2) a small spool of Glide thread. May 29, 2025 - Closing Early ~ Changes at the Store ~ Clearance Sale ~ Gift Card Deal

Closing Early

We will close at 4 pm tomorrow and Saturday, May 30 and May 31. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Things Changing at the Store

As you may know, we've had an area for gifts and locally made items since we opened almost 3 years ago. We've decided that we are no longer going to carry some of those items as of the end of May. Items include products by Cathy's Creations, Popilily Boutique, and Kentucky Twirl, as well as various gift items. We've loved offering items by these vendors in our store; however, we've decided to go in a different direction.

What will we use that space for? We plan to use the new space for an expansion of fabric and notions - hopefully to provide some options for people who used to shop at Joann. Over time, the plan is to include fleece, flannel, and a variety of lower-priced cotton fabrics as well as a bigger selection of notions. This will not happen overnight but just wanted to keep you informed as to changes here at the store.

Clearance Sale

We will have a clearance sale toward the beginning of June on items that we are no longer going to carry - gift items, crafts supplies, notions, fabric, and more. This is a great opportunity to do some early Christmas shopping or to add to your craft/fabric/gifting stash. Keep an eye on social media for more info!

Gift Card Deal

It's been a year since we had our big Gift Card Sale. Let's do it again! During the month of June, if you purchase a $200 gift card, you'll get your choice of one of the following every month through May 2026: (1) 3 fat quarters - or - (2) a small spool of Glide Thread!! All you have to do is stop in the store once per calendar month and pick out 3 fat quarters or a spool of thread - your choice. That means that you get anywhere from $71 - 126 in freebies over the course of the year - just for buying a $200 gift card! (Note - it's up to you to remember to pick up your fat quarters or thread. If you miss a month, you will not be able to pick out freebies for that month.)

May 3, 2025 - New Class Alert! Shop Hop Merchandise for Sale! And much more!

New Class Alert!!

Join us as we make the "Freedom" Table runner by Nellie's Needle Quilts. The table runner (approx 18"x36") could also be used as a door hanger or wall hanging. Perfect for Memorial Day and the 4th of July!

The class is $30 and includes everything needed! Just bring your sewing machine and a few notions. We're offering 2 sessions on Wednesday, May 21.

**The pattern includes instructions for the table runner as well as a lap quilt and table topper.**

Scissor Sharpening at Bluegrass Stitches & Crafts

Snippy Jim will be at Bluegrass Stitches & Crafts on Saturday, May 10, 10 am - noon. You can have your scissors sharpened onsite - OR - items can be dropped off and paid for May 6-9 and picked up later .

In addition to scissors, he sharpens snips, pinking shears, knives, garden tools, axes, pruners, loppers, and manual hedge trimmers.

He does not grind your implements, he sharpens them.

Miscellaneous

With Joann closing, I am looking at items that I might be able to start carrying in the store that a lot of people may not be able to easily locate. Let me know what items you would be interested in seeing. No guarantee that I can get them but I'd love to hear your ideas.
Threads: I currently carry the Fil-tec brand of threads (Glide, Premo-Soft, and Cairo Quilt). I am starting to carry Aurfil 50 weight thread and Guterman cotton thread. I don't have a huge selection right now but there will be more to come!
I've had a lot of people ask me to carry buttons. This is one of those items that I wouldn't even know where to begin as far as what kind to stock. My suggestion is that visiting Goodwill or another thrift type store might be a good place - buy a shirt and use the buttons from it!
Classes - I've been remiss about getting classes added to the schedule (for a variety of reasons). I'm hoping to get more scheduled soon! Check out our Classes page on our website for updates.

I have a lot of news to share! Thank you for taking a few minutes to read my newsletter. I truly appreciate it!

Donation Drive! And a Discount!

In light of the recent floods, Bluegrass Stitches & Crafts has offered to serve as a drop-off location for cleaning supplies through Thursday, April 10. The Salvation Army of Woodford County is requesting the following items: Bleach, Mops, Scrub Brushes, Stiff Bristle Push Brooms, Yard Trash Bags, Squeegees, Latex Gloves, Paper Towels, Lysol Cleaner, Buckets. The brooms and mops should be sturdy.

As a “Thank You” for helping out we are offering 20% off storewide!! (see store for restrictions)

A lot of thoughts....

With the implementation of the tariffs, I've had a lot of thoughts swirling in my head. I have already been notified by several companies that prices WILL increase - we just don't know by how much at this point. The price increases will not just be on fabric but on most items in the store. My plan is to provide better details as soon as they become available. Stay Tuned!

Joann Closing - what does that mean for you?

I recently wrote a letter to the editor of Kentucky.com about Joann closing and how important it is to support local business. One thing that I didn't talk about is - how does this affect you?? Just a Spool of Thread (Or a Few Sheets of Cardstock)

I saw this graphic on social media recently and it really resonated with me. If every person on my email list were to come into the store just once a month an buy a spool of thread ($5.99ish) or something equivalent, we would have enough money to cover our rent (and more). I love my customers and I'm so thankful for your support. In these uncertain economic times, I need your suppport more than ever - and just think, all it takes is a spool of thread! This summer, ShopHopInc is hosting the All Kentucky & Tenness Shop Hop! The hop runs July 1 - August 31, 2025. Moda Charm Pack Challenge - January 12, 2023

Moda Fabrics United Notions is having a Charm Pack Challenge next weekend. I will have specials on Charm Packs in-store on Saturday, January 14, and Sunday, January 15. I will also have copies of the Moda Love pattern (Charm Pack Size) available. Anyone that purchases a charm pack on those days will also get 10% off any other fabric purchase! AND - there might even be some giveaways!!
